Ministry of culture and sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan in its activity follows the Constitution, Laws, Decrees of the President and Resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministries of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 27, 2004 the main tasks of the Ministry are as follows:

• Implementation of comprehensive measures for realization of single state policy in culture and public sports, restoration of people’s rich cultural heritage, development of formed by ages high spirit, public traditions, education of healthy, spiritual rich and harmonious developed persons;
• Coming from idea of national independence, cultural and spiritual-moral traditions of Uzbek people, implementation of cultural-educational, physically training and public sports work among the population more full satisfaction cultural and aesthetic needs of the population;
• Further development of theatre, music, choreographic, circus, public-applied and other arts, increase their artistic and moral level, provision of comprehensive assistance to art groups in their works reflecting the most prime stages of people’s history and its present life, free democratic development of the country;
• Provision of public cultural and holiday measures with deep ideal content, adjustment close collaboration with art groups and public organizations of the republic, provision of comprehensive support to artistic youth, creation of necessary conditions for fruitful opening of their talents;
• Implementation of measures for physically training and public sports development, forming among the population and, first of all youth and children understanding the necessity of sports training, longing the healthy life and good attitude to sports, prepare the youth for work and serving in the army of the republic;
• Support and creation the necessary conditions including capacity building of Olympic facilities for training the high class, capable to represent Uzbekistan and achieve good sports results in Olympic games, world championships and Asian continent, international competitions;
• Arrangement and carrying out the people’s games, competitions in national kinds of sports;
• Close interaction and assistance to government and public organizations, educational institutions, local authorities in arrangement the public awareness work, cultural and physical education of population, carrying out public sports work in dwelling districts;
• Extension and strengthening interstate and international cultural and sports relations, conduction of conferences, exhibitions and sport competitions, work for involvement of foreign investments and grants into culture and sports;
• Capacity building of cultural and sport offices and facilities, provision of their efficient use;
• Cultural and sport staff training and retraining, provision of high-skilled staff for cultural, sport and educational institutions;
• Implementation comprehensive propaganda of professional, public and amateur art, sports, popular cultural and sport programs, as well as publishing popular press and issue of video and films concerned to culture and sports.
