The certification of cotton products

By certification of cotton products they are to be conformed for correspondence to the requirements, prescribed by the functioning standards for the concrete type of cotton products and containing a list of characteristics (indices) to be checked.

For certification of cotton products (excluding technical cotton seeds) the seventh scheme is used, i.e. each bale of cotton products is tested and then Uzbek Centre «Sifat» issues to a Customer the Certificate of Conformity for a lot of the tested products.

For certification of technical cotton seeds the third scheme is used, according to which Uzbek Centre «Sifat» issues a Manufacturer the Certificate of Conformity for this type of products for a term of 3 years on the basis of positive results of Manufacturer’s production inspection and annual inspection control of the certified products in future. At that Uzbek Centre «Sifat» carries out the tests of each lot of seeds, produced during a shift and conformed by the Protocol of tests on quality. Read more

Testing of cotton fibre

Uzbek Centre «SIFAT» carries out testing of cotton fibre by on HVI systems and classer method (manual).

35 semiautomatic HVI systems Uster HVI 900 SA are installed in the laboratories of Uzbek Centre «SIFAT» . A computer of the system provides automatic, quick and reliable testing, calibration and diagnostics of HVI modules. For simplification of work and flexibility of tested parameters measurements all functions are controlled by microprocessors. Read more

Standards of appearance

Making of standards of appearance for cotton products is carried out by the department of the board “Metrology, scientific research works and standards”.

First the standards of cotton fibre appearance began to be made by Uzbek Centre «SIFAT» after the standard RST 604-93 «Cotton Fibre. Technical Conditions» was carried into effect in 1993.

After interagency commission approved the standards they were delivered to International Cotton Association for representing Uzbek cotton there. Directorial commission of the Association recognized officially and accepted standards of Uzbek cotton. Fr om 1996 standards began to be represented into Liverpool International Association, Bremen Cotton Association and Gdynia Cotton Association. Read more

Regional laboratories

Regional laboratories of Uzbek Centre «Sifat» carry out sampling of cotton fibre and linter form bales at the regional ginneries, identifying them, putting the bar code tags into them, control the process of weighing of cotton fibre and linter bales, after delivery of samples to a laboratory they carry out tests on HVI systems, which define quality parameters of cotton fibre.

Samples of fibre and linter are delivered to classers for testing, who check them if there are defects, seeds wastes, oil spots, water spoilage and etc. A classer gives a final evaluation of cotton fibre and linter by grade, class and type, comparing them with standards of appearance. The results of each sample test are sent to Data Base of these laboratories. After line Supervisor examines if HVI operator and classers followed all the procedures correctly these data are transferred to the National Data Base, wh ere all information on availability and quality of cotton produced in the Republic is accumulated. Training Courses

Standing Advanced Training Courses for cotton classers of fibre, linter and wool work at the Uzbek Centre «SIFAT» from 1996 .Training of cotton products classers is carried out according to Uzbek and international. Training ensures to master the necessary knowledge and professional skills in classing of cotton fibre by classer method and on HVI systems, as well as the terminology which is used in the international practice of cotton fibre trade and study of international cotton fibre market.

The aim of training centre –is training of specialists –classers of cotton fibre in accordance with international cotton market requirements for enterprises, organizations, departments, firms of the Republic and other countries, which deal with production and trade of Uzbek cotton, as well as cotton linter and wool. Scientific researches

On the basis of the department “Metrology and scientific research works”in the Uzbek centre «Sifat» scientific works are carried out to study consumption properties of zoning, new and perspective elite selections of cotton, to develop test methods, classification and standardization of cotton products on the basis of usage up-to-day measuring equipment and requirements of world market.
