Vast opportunities of Tashkent region outlined

The economy of this picturesque and promising region is developing steadily. Over the past eight years, $10 billion of regional investments and $8 billion of sectoral investments have been attracted, and about 10,000 industrial, trade, and service enterprises have been established.

In the past three years, the number of enterprises with an annual turnover exceeding 10 billion UZS has increased 1.8 times, reaching 1,700. The number of enterprises with a turnover of over 100 billion UZS has grown from 137 to 193. As a result, while the region’s average annual exports did not even reach $1 billion in previous years, they have already surpassed this mark in just the first eight months of this year.

Large industrial parks worth $2.1 billion are being established in the region with the participation of Chinese investors. Additionally, presidential resolutions have been adopted for the accelerated development of the region for 2025-2027, with more than 40 trillion UZS allocated for their implementation. All these measures make it possible to reduce unemployment and poverty levels locally. By the end of the year, the unemployment and poverty rate in the region is expected to be reduced to 4.5 percent.

To further build on these results, at the initiative of the President, a Reform Headquarters was also established in Tashkent region. At the meeting, the program and projects prepared by the Headquarters were presented.

The Head of State gave appropriate instructions to the responsible ministries and agencies to ensure the flawless implementation of these projects and the prompt resolution of arising issues.

In particular, it is planned to build two substations to support the establishment of industrial enterprises with foreign investment in the cities of Nurafshon, Olmaliq, and Chirchiq.

In Bekabad, a production facility for import-substituting auto parts is planned, while in Akkurgan district, enterprises in the food and textile industries will be opened. Along the Karasu Canal, which flows through Akhangaran, Angren, and Urtachirchiq districts, tourist and trade complexes will be developed.

In total, investment projects worth $2.5 billion have been developed in the region. Their implementation will employ more than 11,000 people and create an export potential of $434 million.

The President reviewed the projects in detail and pointed out additional opportunities.

“Tashkent region has the greatest potential both in industry and in agriculture. Most importantly, it surrounds the capital, which is the country’s largest market for goods and services. This is a tremendous opportunity. By making full use of it, we can multiply the indicators of investment, exports, and job creation”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted.

The Hokim of Tashkent city and district leaders also attended the meeting. It was noted that available land in Tashkent region will be transferred to the disposal of Tashkent Invest company and the Directorate of Industrial Zones of the city, while environmentally harmful enterprises will be relocated outside the capital.

The task has been set to connect all districts of Tashkent region with the capital by high-speed electric trains. This will increase demand for new housing, infrastructure, and services, while residents will be able to commute daily to work in Tashkent.

The region has 263 mahallas, which, to date, are not specialized in production, industry, or services. Therefore, plans have been made to develop horticulture, including the cultivation of lemons, grapes, raspberries, broccoli, and seedlings. To support these mahallas, the company Agrostar has been tasked with providing the population with seeds and seedlings, as well as guaranteeing the sale of these products.

Tashkent region is rich in land and water resources. Instructions have been given to use this potential effectively by increasing agricultural production while simultaneously developing its processing and export capabilities.

Overall, it was emphasized that all available opportunities must be utilized to transform mahallas into areas free from unemployment and poverty.
