Uzbekistan has set goals to increase its production and export potential. Issues of technical regulation, standardization, and metrology play an essential role in this process. In accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of February 27 this year, public administration was improved, and new tasks were defined in this area.

In recent years, 12,000 standards have been approved, and since the beginning of this year, another 1,040 international standards have been adopted. To ensure the safety and quality of products, 29 technical regulations have been developed, which are communicated to industrial enterprises and entrepreneurs. Assistance is also provided in obtaining certificates.

Responsible persons presented information on the work done and plans for the rest of the year and the following year.

The Head of state noted that an effective technical regulation system is needed to enter international markets and set additional tasks. Only 64 out of 269 laboratories in the country have internationally recognized test results. This forces entrepreneurs to conduct further tests when exporting products.

The President noted the need to increase the number of internationally recognized laboratories and organize ten new laboratories in industries such as electrical engineering, construction materials, and mechanical engineering.

Uzbekistan is moving towards joining the World Trade Organization. In this regard, it was emphasized that technical regulation legislation must comply with this organization’s requirements.

This year, it is planned to develop 340 national standards and by the end of 2025 – another 38 regulations. Particular attention will be paid to the digitalization of the work of 28 technical committees, as well as the activities of laboratories. For this purpose, the Technical Regulation electronic platform will be launched.

In addition, to ensure the high quality and efficiency of work in this area, specialists with modern knowledge and skills must be trained to work in accordance with international standards. In this regard, an instruction was given to improve the system of personnel training in this area.
